Polkura began its journey in 1988 when winemaker Sven Bruchfeld along with his friend Gonzalo Muñoz, were dreaming of projects to collaborate on. They were working in different areas, and decided to meet near Narbonne, in the south of France. A tasty meal helped them decide that Syrah would be the base of their future wine.

Back in Chile, they set out to find the best place to develop a vineyard in order to maximize the grape quality. In 2002, they found a neglected property in the Marchigüe area -the Western end of the Colchagua Valley. They planted their first vintage in 2004 on Pulkura hill.

As the first B-Corp winery in Chile, Polkura believes making the world a better place is a responsibility that we must confront now. To obtain this certification the winery must meet the highest standards for their entire social and environmental performance. Polkura is a forward-thinking company who values their employees, the wine-making process and the environment, too.
